Steering device for automobile

Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable correction of steering characteristic to safe side, by correcting the transmission ratio characteristic of the steering angle of a wheel with respect to the steering angle of steering wheel in order to compensate the steering characteristic of fixed steering ratio when the steering ratio between front and rear wheels is fixed abnormally to two-wheel-steering condition. CONSTITUTION:A transmission ratio varying means 12 for varying the transmission ratio of the steering angle of wheel with respect to the steering angle of steering wheel is arranged in the way of a steering force transmission path for transmitting the steering force of steering wheel to wheels in a vehicle associated with a four-wheel- steering device 3. A transmission ratio control means 102 for receiving an output signal from an operating condition detecting means 104 which detects operating condition such as steering angle of steering wheel, vehicle speed, etc. and controlling the transmission ratio varying means 12 is also provided. Furthermore, a four-wheel-steering abnormality detecting means 109 for detecting that the steering ratio between front and rear wheels is fixed by the abnormality of the four-wheel-steering device 3 is provided, and when the steering ratio is fixed, output characteristic for the transmission ratio varying means 12 is corrected by the transmission ratio correcting means 110 such that the steering characteristic of fixed steering ratio is compensated.
